A Community
Reinforcement Approach:
Treating Cocaine Addiction |
|
| Exhibit 16: Components
of Effective Refusal |
- No should be the first thing you say.
- Tell the person not to ask you now or in the future if you
want to do cocaine.
- Use appropriate body language:
- Make good eye contact; look directly at the person when
you answer.
- Your expression and tone should clearly indicate that
you are serious
- Offer an alternative (if you want to do something else
with that person) that is incompatible with cocaine use.
- Change the subject.
